When it comes to designing a curriculum and teaching, it’s crucial to have an underlying approach. At St George's Church of England Primary School, we’re committed to a values-based approach.
Values are principles that drive behaviour. The values we develop define our actions attitudes and actions, and influence our relationship with ourselves and others.
A values-based approach to education uses positive values as a way of creating a strong learning environment where pupils are taught to develop positive social and relationship skills and a positive attitude to working and learning.
The positive learning environment we strive for in our school is achieved through the values modelled by our amazing staff. This both gives our pupils a positive example through which they can start to set expectations for themselves.
By building a positive values based environment, we also help reduce confrontational situations in the school, freeing up more time for teaching and learning.
No matter where life takes us, it is our values, built upon over time, that give us the tools to make the best decisions and take the best actions in every situation. Through our values-based approach, we equip our pupils with the interpersonal skills, intelligence, and attitude to achieve at school and throughout their lives.
