We are delighted to announce that St George’s has appointed a new headteacher, Candida Hutchinson.
Mrs Hutchinson is currently Assistant Primary Director of The White Horse Federation, where she has been in the role this academic year. Previously, she has held two successful headships in Swindon and Reading. After a transition period, Mrs Hutchinson will join St George’s C of E Primary School in September 2020.
She will be replacing Mrs Jackie Chalk, who is retiring from headship after ten years at St George's C of E Primary School. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Chalk for her hard work and exceptional commitment to the role, and we wish her all the best in her retirement.
Candida will be working closely with Mrs Emma Groom who will remain as Acting Head of School at St George’s. Emma has strongly led the St George’s team in this role since January this year and we know that families have welcomed having this key contact in school. Her support is invaluable to the school.
Mrs Hutchinson, like Mrs Chalk, will also oversee leadership at Seend C of E Primary and will balance her time according to the needs of both schools.
Simon Cowley, The White Horse Federation’s regional director for Wiltshire, said: “I am delighted to introduce Candida as the new headteacher of St George’s School. During her time at The Croft Primary, another of the federation’s schools, Candida showed exceptional leadership skills opening up a brand-new school and being graded outstanding by Ofsted during the first 18 months of her headship.”
“I am looking forward to working with Candida and supporting her and the staff at St George’s School as we build upon the school’s progress made under Mrs Chalk.”
This is an uncertain time for us all and no one is more keen than Candida to get started on her role and be able to meet the school community as soon as it is safe to do so.
Everyone at St George’s School can’t wait to meet her too. In the meantime, why not watch this introductory video to hear Candida herself!
